Unlock Your Upper Body Potential: 5 Energizing Exercises for Sculpted Arms and a Strong, Confident You!
Ladies, let’s talk about unleashing the powerhouse within you! There’s a common misconception that working with weights or resistance will bulk you up and diminish your attractiveness. But here’s the secret: it’s the key to unveiling those beautifully toned arms that rock tank tops and short sleeves like never before.
As women, we juggle a multitude of responsibilities, from taking care of our families to managing our homes. Having upper body strength is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity. It’s your ticket to injury prevention and mastering the demands of everyday life.
The chest, triceps, and shoulders are often overlooked, yet they’re prime candidates for injury. But fear not, because today, we’re diving headfirst into a total upper body workout that targets all the right spots. It’s straightforward but incredibly effective. Picture this: dedicating just 1-2 sessions a week, gradually increasing your weights and reps, and in just 30 days, you’ll emerge stronger and more defined than ever.
To embark on this journey, you’ll need a pair of light dumbbells, ideally ranging from 3-8 pounds, and another set, medium weight, around 15-20 pounds. Remember, it’s crucial to find the perfect weight for you. We’re aiming for that sweet spot – a weight that keeps it practical while pushing you a little, making those 6 or 7 reps feel like a triumphant push towards the magic number 10.
Are you ready to take the reins and redefine your upper body strength? Let’s sculpt those arms, boost your confidence, and conquer life’s challenges together!
The Workout:
- Bent Over Row
For bent over rows I’ll be using 15 lb. dumbbells, use the weight that’s comfortable for you. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, holding the weights in your hands with palms facing up, we’re going to unlock at the hips and hinge forward approximately 45° or until your chest line is right over the knees. Sit back into the heels and middle of your feet to help stabilize your body. Maintain a neutral spine (straight back), and posture as you bring your elbows back towards your back keeping arms close to your sides with your shoulder down and relaxed. Bring the arms back to the starting position. Repeat.
- Lateral Raise (10 Reps)
This time, we’re going to with out our weights for something lighter like 3-8 lb. dumbbells, just see what works best. Standing with feet shoulder width apart, and weights in hand at your side, face the palm of your hands to your body. Sit back into your hips by unlocking your hips and slight bend in your knees. Raise your arms out to your sides (laterally) up to shoulder height and bring them back down. Use controlled and steady movement. Repeat.
- Front Raise (10 Reps)
Using the same weights for lateral raises, and same stance, this time hold your weights out in front by your lap. Raise your arms to shoulder height and back down using controlled and steady movement. Repeat.
- Push Up (10 Reps)
I like to start off on all fours with my hands across from the chest area , hands out wider than shoulder width, and knees under the hips. Raise up the knees to fully extend the legs, at this point you should be in a plank. Feet can be together, but feet apart gives you a wider base of support. Bring your body down toward the floor by leading with the hips and bending your elbows going back about 45° and shoulders down and relaxed. Press back up. Repeat.
- Lying Chest Press
For lying chest press we’ll use the 15 pound dumbbells or the same weight used for the bent over row. Lay on your back, preferably with a mat. While holding your weights in each hand bring arms out to the side with elbows a little lower than across from the shoulders, and knuckles facing up. Press hands straight up keeping them in line with the shoulders, and bring them back down to the starting position. Repeat.
- Repeat
